Ceasefire in Palestine Marches

The idea of capturing raw emotions other than joy inspired me to explore photojournalism.I have never experienced anything like this event before and I was overwhelmed by the extreme emotions of the crowd. From the joy of reuniting with friends and family and excitement of celebrating culture, to the power of a hundred thousand people chanting for what they believe in, and for some, the anger of injustice and cruelty.

A month later , I photographed the ‘March for Palestine’ at The Cathedral of Learning in Pittsburgh, PA. This march was completely different from the first, there were only 40-50 attendees but I could still hear the same emotion and power in their voices. Something to be noted about the difference in Pittsburgh versus Washington DC was the police presence. Throughout the 3 hours we were in the crowds in Washington DC we saw zero police, whereas in Pittsburgh there were multiple police officers and vehicles from the moment I arrived and more were arriving as I left. Overall, this project was really moving, fun to shoot, and made me learn a lot, not just about photography but about the world we live in. I hope you enjoy the photos as much as I do!
